We help families build strength,

stability, and self-reliance

through shelter.

Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Seeking to put God's love into action,

Oconee County Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Oconee County Habitat for Humanity is deeply rooted in the community and is committed to eliminating substandard housing in Oconee County. With the support of our 200 volunteer members, we provide families with the opportunity to improve their standard of living by acquiring a home of their own. Our commitment to the community is unwavering, and we sell the homes we build to families in need with no profit or mortgage, ensuring that our mission is always community-focused.

Our goal is to build 4 to 5 homes yearly to meet the increased need for decent, affordable housing in Oconee County. To accomplish this goal, we constantly need skilled and unskilled volunteers. We are searching for construction supervisors, plumbers, and electricians who work a 4-hour shift on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

To date, OCHFH has provided more than 100 families with such housing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The average monthly payment for a Habitat family is $550, including property taxes and homeowner's insurance. They also invest hundreds of hours of their own time - sweat equity - into building their houses and the houses of others. Homeownership provides each Habitat family the opportunity to build equity in their home. The revenue from mortgages paid by Habitat homeowners is placed in a revolving fund that supports the construction of more homes.
